About your role

As our new Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing strategic company-wide projects and orchestrating the business planning process, bridging strategy and execution. Your key responsibility is to create excellence in project management, foster successful cross-team collaboration, to drive results, and deliver on the strategic goals of Fairphone. You will be reporting to our Chief Impact Officer.

Your profile

  • You have 7+ years of experience in project management.

  • Experience in strategic business planning is a plus.

  • You have a bachelor's degree in the area of Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, preferred.

  • Studies or courses in project management and sustainability are a plus.

  • You embrace diversity in thoughts, opinions, and backgrounds and feel comfortable working with individuals from various nationalities in a multicultural environment.

  • You feel a strong connection with Fairphone’s mission (to inspire the industry).

  • You (are willing to) live in the Netherlands and have the right to work within the EU.

Your responsibilities

Strategic project management:

  • Manage a portfolio of strategic projects that span one or multiple lines of business.

  • Full project lifecycle ownership: define success criteria, scope, and ensure successful project execution and delivery within the set timeframe.

  • Provide on-site leadership for the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhere to responsibilities, and deliver milestones.

  • Manage day-to-day project activities, resources, and chair project team meetings.

  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership.

  • Establish practices, policies, tools, partnerships, and mentor colleagues to expand and mature project management capabilities for the whole organization.

Strategic business planning:

  • Orchestrate the annual business planning, working with the management team and department heads to turn the long-term vision into short-term goals, strategies to deliver those goals, capacity planning, and measures to track progress (Fairphone annual OGSM).

  • Provide the management team with visibility on progress in execution (performance metrics and status of strategic projects) and assist them with business strategies prioritization, decision-making, and program management.

  • Coordinate the company's 6-week cycles to ensure all stakeholders in the organization are focusing on priorities and allocate resources and work accordingly, fostering cross-team alignment.

  • Facilitate the periodic meetings with the management team and department heads: cross-team alignment meetings every 6 weeks, quarterly offsite meetings.

  • You have the ability to inspire people to work cross-functionally to drive success.

  • You can think strategically and long-term but also possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • You have effective communication skills and stakeholder management abilities.

  • You are proactive and engage in objective, fact-based decision-making.

  • You possess high analytical and numerical skills.

Recruitment process

If you’re a promising applicant, you will go through the following stages:

  1. A first phone call with a member of the People team
  2. An interview with the hiring manager, that might also be joined by another member of the hiring team
  3. A second interview, which includes an assignment or assessment
  4. A final chat with a member of the People or Management team
  5. Reference checks
